Spirits of the Camargue
In this evocative double exposure, the intertwined legacies of the Camargue come alive. The Gardian, stoic and timeless, merges with the powerful visage of the bull, creating a visual symphony that speaks to centuries of history and culture in the region. The black-and-white palette underscores the timelessness of this relationship, where man, horse, and bull have coexisted, each dependent on the other, for millennia. The Gardian and horse’s silhouette, overlaid with the textured form of the bull, blurs the lines between human and nature, suggesting a bond that transcends the physical—a spiritual connection that defines the very essence of the Camargue.
Limited Edition pieces are printed on archival museum-grade, archival rag paper or premium museum canvas, using long-lasting pigment inks. The Collection items are shipped as print-only. If you opt for the museum paper, your new photographic artwork will be bordered by a 1.5-inch white margin, which will be signed, titled, embossed, and numbered…

Personal Reflection: This image, created in the historic town of Santes Maries de la Mer on a rainy day, was a deliberate attempt to merge the urban with the natural, the past with the present. As I wiped the rain from my camera and wandered through the town, I stumbled upon this statue—a symbol of the Gardians, their horses, and the bulls that have shaped this land. In that moment, I knew I wanted to create an image that captured the spirit of the Camargue, tying together its key elements in a way that felt both timeless and contemporary. The rain-soaked streets, the history steeped in the air, and the enduring presence of these icons all came together in this piece, “Spirits of the Camargue.” For me, this image embodies the harmony and interdependence of the Gardians, horses, and bulls—each playing a vital role in the narrative of this unique region.
