Capturing this image was quite an adventure. We trekked over rugged terrains, spending a full day to reach the Suri tribe. There was an undercurrent of risk involved – the need for armed security, a hint of danger shared by fellow travelers who had just been robbed at gunpoint in these parts. (That’s a full story by itself.) But it was all worth it, for the beauty of the experience and the moments we lived, like bathing in the river under the evening sky each night.

“The Queen’s Heart” features two young Suri boys, symbols of the vibrant heart of their tribe. See the light, be the light; Shine, and the whole world ignites.

Through my storytelling, I hope to inspire others to lean into the light, to see it in themselves and others. To be the light that reveals the beauty that thrives even in the toughest circumstances, and the harsh truths that need to be seen. For when we do, the world becomes brighter, more compassionate, and more vibrant.
